The National Water Commission (NWC) is urging customers to continue storing water as some restrictions, imposed before Tropical Storm Ernesto, may return.
Charles Buchanan, corporate public relations manager at the National Water Commission (NWC) told THE STAR that there has not been any significant rain fall yet and so some form of the restrictions imposed are likely to be re-instituted.
The water restrictions were lifted on the weekend to allow residents to fill up and make preparations for the impending tropical storm. However Buchanan notes that restrictions will return as there still has been no significant rainfall since the shortage at the Constant Spring/ Hermitage system.
The public relations manager also urged schools to ensure they have proper storage to received trucked water during the restrictions. "Inadequate storage causes undue stress on Rapid Response and the National Water Commission and other persons who this affects ," he said.
A story in Tuesday's Gleaner reported that over 50 schools in the Corporate Area are expected to be affected by the water restrictions.
The water is to be trucked by Rapid Response at nights and the commission will work closely with schools to provide enough water to meet the schools storage capabilities.
