Singer Clifroy 'I-Wayne' Taylor, was yesterday fined $1,000 or 10 days imprisonment for obstructing police.
Taylor, who was also charged with using indecent language and assaulting a policeman, had these charges dropped in the Spanish Town RM Court.
Marlon Erving, who was held along with Taylor, and charged with assaulting a policeman and cursing indecent language, was fined $1000 or 10 days for the indecent language. The assaulting a policeman charge was dropped
The appearance of Taylor and Erving arose out of an incident that took place in Bridgeport, St. Catherine earlier this year. It is learnt that the police were on patrol when one man from a group, was spotted smoking ganja. The police accosted the men and held onto the men. Taylor, it is reported, intervened and became boisterous.
He reportedly held onto the policeman's uniform. In the melee the court learnt, that Erving hit constable Compton Russell in his eye. The men were taken to the Bridgeport Police Station and were formally charged.
The two other men who were in the group were also charged but had pleaded guilty and fined at an earlier court hearing.
Yesterday after RM Lorna Gayle fined both men, she told Erving he needs to apologise to the policeman in question and also to pay $4000 for his medical bill.
Erving said "I am sorry for what I have done, officer".
Both men were then taken from the dock to pay their respective fines.
