Tight and uniform

It is amazing what fashion can do.

In a country where the homosexual is the supposedly most reviled human being and being the spitting image of a man is as important as breathing to many a male, as THE WEEKEND STAR reports today, schoolboys are taking the tight pants craze into the classroom.

The significance of this fashion statement or misstatement, depending on how closely one aligns oneself with the matter, is not to be overlooked, as stoutly- defended positions of a generation before are surrendered by those who follow them.

When a significant enough number of schoolboys go to the tailor to take in their trousers, so as to align their assets as they set about educating themselves for life, it marks a startling shift in not only fashion, but also mindset.

For if schoolboys today feel comfortable enough to wear tightened khakis to school, considering the extreme peer pressure at that age and stage, then who will feel comfortable in living their supposedly deviant lifestyle in plain view 20 years from now?

The fashions and mannerisms of the dancehall are quickly reflected by young men and this case is no different. Tight pants have become standard dancehall wear for quite a few men and it was only a matter of time before it was picked up where the dancehall ends and more sedate life begins.

For those who think it is the end of the world, though, remember that tight pants and Afros came together in the 1970s and the world did not come to an end.
