A man who pleaded guilty to breaking into the Grants Pen Police Station and stealing a bicycle, benefited from the lenience of Senior Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle, when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Rohan Sparkes, otherwise called Max, of a Grants Pen Drive address, appeared before RM Gayle to answer to office breaking and larceny charges. Sparkes, who is a gardener on the grounds, told the court, "I know it was wrong, and I'm going to look another work."
The facts are that on August 8, at about 6:10 a.m., Sparkes forced open the grille at the back of the station and stole a Haro V Series bicycle. The bicycle was later discovered at his home and after being questioned, he was arrested and charged. When cautioned, he reportedly said, "Mi never mean fi tief it."
When he appeared in court, RM Gayle told Sparkes that he was "being extremely lenient" before saying, "I'm gonna give him a small 10 days."
