falmouth, trelawny:

At 106, with the biggest problem being a little hearing difficulty, Elecia Tummings quickly made known, "A massa God keep mi," when she was asked why she thought she has lived this long.

The Star caught up with Ms. Tummings recently when she along with her grandson, Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor Jonathan Bartley went to the Falmouth Infirmary for a few hours.

With a hearty laughter, Tummings accepted an invitation from Verna Small, poor relief officer to 'throw' her a party.

"She is very caring and that is why when she lived in Falmouth she took me along with her," the Mayor said.

Ms. Tummings is originally from Barrett Town, St. James but lived in Wakefield, Trelawny for many years. On her retirement as a worker on the Hampden Estate in Trelawny, she moved to Falmouth to live with a sister, but later returned to Wakefield. She now lives with her daughter, Agatha Wilson in the same district.
