Traffic came to a halt in the Old Harbour Square, St. Catherine on Friday morning, after two women broke out in a fight, apparently over a man.
Motorists had to stop for several minutes as the two women, one of an Indian decent, traded blows and ripped each other's clothing, to the delight of a small crowd which surrounded them.
It was after it seems the woman who is of an Indian decent, started to gain the advantage throwing more telling blows at her opponent, that people intervened and parted them. But even while being parted fists and kicks were still being thrown.
Unable to fight physically, the women began cursing each other in a shouting match. "Mi waan mi man yuh fi left him, as a me have him now, " said the woman of Indian decent. Her opponent shouted, "yuh think soh."
The man, identified by onlookers as the object of their clash, waltz onto the scene and persons were overheard saying "seem deh". He stood there for a while, then walked away. After this the Indian woman was escorted from the scene by a female.
Things gradually returned to normal after the fight as the other women left and the crowd dispersed.
Several vendors in the square said even though thing were not selling, they got a handful of excitement.
