'Incest ruined my life'

Dear Pastor,

I am very happy with the information that you gave to the young lady who was sexually abused by her family members because at a tender age I was also sexually abused by someone in my family. I don't know how to deal with this problem in my life. This problem has kept me up at night. Sometimes I stay up and just cry my eyes out. Like that young lady, I have never had an orgasm in all the years that I have been sexually active. Sometimes when I am having sex, I cry.

I have no love for some men at all.

There is only one person in this world that makes me feel good about myself and he doesn't even know that something like this happened to me. Everything that your writer is going through, I am going through too. And the bad part about it, is that I have to talk to this person and act as if I really like him. I am going to college and I am trying to make a better life for myself.

S. B., New York, U.S.A.

Dear S. B.,

Evidently you did not receive therapy when you were sexually abused by this family member. You didn't tell anyone and to this day what happened is haunting you. Therefore, I am going to suggest that you try to deal with this matter by seeking pro-fessional help. You have to go through counselling sessions. I cannot intelli-gently comment on what happened because you have not said much about it. However, you have said enough to make me know that you are crying out for help.

I know that you need help in learning to relate to other men and also to overcome the abuse you suffered.

The emotional scars are still with you and a family counsellor or psychologist will be able to help you.

I am glad that you are in college, but you are crying out for true love. Pray and ask God to help you. Don't allow men to toy with your body. I beg you, try and get professional help.
