The final of the 2006 Bejon's skittles competition takes place tomorrow with many-time local champions Rowe's Strikers up against surprise finalists Galaxy starting at 5:00 p.m. at Bejon's Sports Bar, Hughenden Plaza.
Portmore Municipality Colours, winners of the Wray & Nephew Major League in July, were among the 11 teams in the competition, but they were knocked out in the quarter-finals.
Rowe's Strikers clipped Dragon from East Kingston 6-5 in the semi-finals three weeks ago, while Galaxy from Red Hills Road surprised high-riding Cherry's Strikers 6-4 in the other semi-final.
Although Rowe's are one of the top teams in local skittles, they will find an improved Galaxy no pushovers. Galaxy are currently on a roll and if their players remain focused, as they did against former champions Cherry's Strikers, it should go down to the wire.
The presentation of trophies and prizes will follow the playing of the final.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Skittles Federation in association with Chelsea Jerk Centre will put on another tournament beginning on Sunday, August 26.
The tournament will be played over several weeks at the home of the sponsors, Chelsea Jerk Centre Bar and Lounge, Chelsea Avenue, off Half-way Tree Road.
All teams coming under the Federation's umbrella are expected to participate, including Portmore Colours and The Dip from Portmore.
