RETURNING PRESIDENT OF the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), Jackie Hendriks, believes the delegates have spoken and it is now time to continue developing local cricket.
"I think that the election of the executive has been a positive one. They have returned some very hard workers," Hendriks, who was returned unopposed as president, told journalists last night at the Jamaica Pegasus where the JCA's annual general meeting was held.
Hendriks made special mention of returning executive members Paul Campbell as first vice-president, Cleveland Keddoo as second vice-president, and Dave Cameron as treasurer.
He said Campbell "has certainly done a marvellous job in the past and we expect him to do better in the future.
"Second vice-president Keddoo has put a lot of work into what he has been doing, as well as Dave Cameron as the treasurer, who has done very, very well as far as keeping our records straight.
"I think it is very encouraging that the members have confidence in this team, because that is what we want to achieve. We want to be a team, everybody working together, to one aim," he pointed out. "We also have new ideas to bring to the fore."
At yesterday's meeting Campbell scored an overwhelming 61-26 win over his Lucas clubmate Easton McMorris while Whycliffe 'Dave' Cameron beat Hopeton Morrison 62-24 to retain his post as honorary treasurer.
Long-serving honorary secretary Diann Campbell withdrew her nomination, thus handing challenger Milton Henry the position.
President Hendriks, second vice-president Cleveland Keddoo, assistant secretary Ian Brown and assistant treasurer Hugh Perry were returned unopposed.
Roderick Gordon, Senior Superintendent Dudley Bryan, Ephraim McLeod, Courtney Daley, Lyndel Wright, and Radcliffe Daley are the directors from Surrey.
The other directors are Linden James and Norman Jackson (Cornwall), Maurice Clarke, Fitz Harris, Leroy Beckford and Robert Lewis (Middlesex).
