Below are some of the cases that have been published between 2002 and 2006.
In January 2002, Vernal Campbell, a 50-year-old teacher, was charged with indecent assault after he allegedly molested an 11-year-old student. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment in 2003.
In 2003, Robert Lewis, a 29-year-old teacher, was charged with indecent assault after he allegedly molested five boys at a prep school. At the time of his arrest, the court was told he was put on probation three years earlier for a similar offence. He was sentenced to six years imprisonment.
In 2004, a physical education teacher was also charged after he allegedly lured a male student to his home with the promise of a football. The case is still before the courts.
In June 2005, a 39-year-old teacher was charged after a student who went to visit him, was allegedly molested and had to be taken to hospital. The matter is still in court.
Earlier that year, a cadet instructor was also charged with carnal abuse after he was allegedly involved with a 14-year-old student. Case still in court.
In October 2005, a music teacher was also arrested for allegedly fondling a female student. Case is still in court.
Earlier this year, a 46-year-old teacher was taken before the courts for reportedly rubbing his penis on the vagina of a three-year-old student. Case remains in court.
Also in May, a Clarendon teacher was arrested and charged for reportedly being involved with a student in September last year. Case is still in court.
In June, a 36-year-old teacher was arrested and charged with indecent assault after he allegedly encouraged an 11-year-old female student to stay behind after school where she was kissed and fondled on several occasions. Matter before court.
