TODAY, THE STAR continues one of its latest features, a weekly review of new songs. Three musical minds with different tastes will analyse each song and will grade it on vocal ability, lyrics, musical arrangement and appeal. Songs that make the grade will be given our stamp of approval, 'Mus' Buss'. For those songs that fail, well, they will be dumped under the 'Caan Buss' heading.
The three reviewers welcome feedback from the artistes and the public about the column. Send your comments to bussdem@-hotmail.com, or if you are an artiste wishing your song to be reviewed, send the CD to:

This week, Mus' Buss/Caan Buss reviews Promiscuous (remix) by Vegas, Nelly Furtado and Timberland. The song offers a blend of dancehall and hip hop, resulting in a jazzy mix. The song was produced by Yogi for FiWi Music on the 'Cross Road' rhythm.
xXx: I prefer the original version with Nelly Furtado and Timberland, to me, da version deh sound better an' it have a vibe.
Queen: Di riddim help to contribute to the whole dancehall feel, it nuh sound like a collaboration weh di deejay a try deejay pon a hip-hop riddim.
TAE: Mi nuh mind di tune, it have a nice likkle vibe to it, an' as for the rhythm, it blends well wid the lyrical flow of the song. This song is somewhere in the middle, it offers a blend of dancehall and hip hop.
xXx: I mean, it's not that the rhythm sounds bad or that Vegas sounds bad.
TAE: Mi nuh know, single out Vegas? A him spoil it?
xXx: Aahm, no, but he's in the remix. Anyway, it jus' alright, it nuh wicked, something a lack. Where is the high point in the riddim? It jus' have that basic drum beat an' di likkle percussion ting, an' that's it. It too basic.
Queen: Well, mi can si wa 'X' a seh. Might be because of the big artiste dem weh deh pon it, it mek it sound hyper than it really is. But I don't think it's a bad song and the international personalities have definitely given the song a boost and will push it into markets where hip hop is extremely popular.
TAE: I love Timberland's flow at the start of the song, at that point I started to listen. Vegas did better for himself further down in the song and Nelly Fertado flow ill as usual, but, as 'X' said earlier, the song kinda flat, not much hype to talk about.
xXx: Mi caan really understand wah Vegas a seh, mi nuh know if a because mi jus' caan hear him or mi jus' nuh interested fi hear. I mean, overall the song is alright, I mean it can gwaan. Do we have such a thing as a half buss? I give it a half buss.
Queen: Well, despite the problems I have with this song, it has potential, it needs some tweaking and probably it will sound better performed live. But mi haffi side wid 'X', half a buss, because it a guh guh somewhere wid di international people ... Alright, it a guh buss.
TAE: Yow, mi nuh know wa di ray ray, tae tae fah, da tune yah, M. B.!
Queen: What, what does M.B. mean? Muss burn up?
TAE: No, it simply mean seh di tune might buss!
