DEAR PASTOR,
I need your help. My husband is from Jamaica and I am from America. We have a wonderful marriage with two beautiful daughters.
My husband has a cousin who is 13 years old. She is a very intelligent young girl who is very close to my husband.
He took basic care of her while he lived in Jamaica. I have met her and have fallen in love with this girl.
She always stays with us when we visit our home in Jamaica and we would love to adopt her. We have asked formal permission from her mother and she said yes.
Our only problem is we are not sure where to go to do this legally. I have tried immigration in the United States, but we would have to live with her in Jamaica for two years.
That is not possible at this time. I want her to become a member of our family and help her achieve great things not only for herself, but also for her family.
We visit Jamaica often and my husband and I would make sure she keeps close contact with her family and her roots. I just want to share our family with her. Can you help us with some prayer and advice?

Dear S. L.,
It would not be difficult for you to adopt this girl. That can be done through the Adoption Board in Jamaica. All legal adoptions are done through them. I suggest that you contact them. They will give you all the information. Their numbers are listed. The problem that you would face is not with the Adoption Board, but with the United States Immigration.
Perhaps you may want to consider supporting this girl fully as your own even if it may not be possible to have her live with you in the United States of America.
