Delores Henry - FRANCINE BLACK
DELORES HENRY HAS been homeless and jobless since last year December when fire destroyed her home and career. And now with the hurricane season on us she is begging for help to get her livelihood back on track so that she can rebuild her home.
Henry lost everything in the fire which not only made her homeless but also her 17-year-old son who attends high school.
He has since been staying with family but she says she needs to have her son back with her, because this arrangement is not ideal. "You know wha pain mi heart, mi son haffi gone live way up suh (with family) and people dem now wan show him bad feelings," she said.
The fire started after a cylinder in her house exploded. A fish vendor at the time, she has been unable to work because the freezer where she use to store the fish was destroyed too.
Her inability to work has made it difficult for her to get a job, and so she is unable to replace her belongings much less meet her basic needs. "Everything mash-up. Not even clothes mi nuh have, a one suit a clothes mi have an a somebody gimmi," she told THE WEEKEND STAR.
Henry also said she has not eaten much since the fire because she is worrying and so has lost a lot of weight.
She says she would appreciate any assistance she receives but she wants more assistance to buy a deep freeze so she can start to work again and help herself.
