A TEACHER FROM a prominent high school in St. Elizabeth, who is charged with indecent assault, after he was accused of making advances to a female student, was granted $500,000 with one or two sureties in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Lenard Tenu, a Kenyan, of Malvern district in the parish, was ordered by RM Andrea Thomas to surrender all his travel documents, report to the Malvern police seven days a week and stay away from the complainant.
It's alleged that on April 12, 2006, the 13-year-old was indecently assaulted inside the staff room at the school.
Nothing was done about the incident at the time but earlier this month the matter was reported to the police by the parent of the complainant and following investigations the accused was subsequently arrested and charged. He is to return to the Santa Cruz RM Court on July 24 for trial.
