Shocked at Christine Hewitt's death

Christine Hewitt - FILE

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I was really shocked (as I assume most Jamaicans were) when I heard the news of Christine Hewitt's death. I know some people in this country are very 'trigger happy' and so people die every day, but the gruesome way in which she was killed was quite appalling. She did so many things for the benefit of this country that many people did not get to thank her for. We don't know why she was killed, but that is not the issue here. There are many ways to deal with situations apart from murder. What is wrong with this country? It is so sad to see what it happening, it reminds me of Bogle's death. We need to resolve our issues differently, turn to God. It takes a coldhearted person to kill someone and then burn the body, that is pure evil. Many Jamaicans are becoming more and more coldhearted and this needs to stop. No one deserves to die in that way. She was a productive member of society who will be truly missed. Condolences to her family, especially her daughter. In truth she always made me laugh. She was a straightforward person, who refused to be anyone but herself. May her soul rest in peace

I am, etc.,
