THE JAMAICA FOOTBALL Federation (JFF) and its women's competitions were made the beneficiaries of a $300,000 sponsorship increase from Sherwin Williams yesterday.

In their fifth year of sponsorship, Sherwin Williams, through its Managing Director Ian Forbes, committed $2.3 million to this year's competitions during a press conference to launch the leagues at the JFF's office.

The Colour Scape Knockout competition will be the first of three competitions sponsored by the paint manufacturers to kick -off the 2006 women's season.

FAIR PLAY AWARD

That competition begins on July 2 with a game between Maverley/-Hughenden and Trelawny F.C.

The Premier League and The 'A' League are scheduled to commence on either July 8 or 9.

The winner of the knockout competition will take home $30,000 while the second-place team will earn $20,000.

The third and fourth-place teams will receive the same prize money of $10,000.

The knockout competition also has a fair play award, the recipient of which will receive the Elaine Walker-Brown Trophy along with $5,000.

The Most Valuable Player of the final round and the top goalscorer of the competition will be the recipients of $2,500 each.

In the Premier League there will be a cash prize of $175,000 for the winner and $125,000 for the runners-up. Third and fourth-place teams will again receive the same incentive of $55,000.

The mid-season incentive in the Premier League will see the winner picking up $40,000, while second place has been earmarked to collect $30,000.

The fair play awardee from the Premier League will earn the Crenston Boxhill Trophy and $10,000. The Most Valuable Player title will also attract $10,000, with the winning coach receiving the same.

The Premier League's top goalscorer, the MVP of the final round and the winning captain will bag $5,000 each.

Each club is also set to receive a jersey subsidy of $10,000.

In the 'A' League, the prizes awarded were a little smaller but still represented a significant increase over last year.

The winner of the 'A' League is set to take home $90,000, while second place goes home $70,000 richer. The third and fourth-place teams receive $40,000 each.

The mid-season incentive for the 'A' League will see the winners earn $30,00, while the second- place team wins $25,000.

There will also be a fair play award in the 'A' League, with the awardee being the recipient of the Ian Forbes Trophy and a cash prize of $5,000.

Similarly to the Premiership, the MVP of the final round, the top goalscorer, and the winning captain all receive the same cash prize of $2,500. A cash prize of $5,000 will go to the MVP of the season.

The 'A' League's winning coach will be made $5,000 richer, while the coach of the year will double that take.
