Guns seized in Kingston and 'Second City'

TWO GUNS WERE recovered by the police in separate incidents in Kingston and St. James between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The guns, a .38 revolver and a .380 pistol, were found during police operations carried out in both parishes.

In the first incident at 10:28 p.m. on Wednesday, the police seized a .380 pistol and arrested and charged Shevans Ottey, 21, for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Two other men who were with him were also arrested and charged. The police have, however, withheld the identity of the third man as he is being questioned for crimes committed in the area. The other man, Tajwade Longshaw, was charged with possession of an offensive weapon after he was found with a knife.

Reports are that the police went to Irwin Avenue in Montego Bay after receiving reports that shots were being fired in the area. When they got there, Ottey, Longshaw and the other man were seen. They were searched and the pistol with serial number #426858 was found in Ottey's possession.

The second gun was seized between 3:00 and 3:30 a.m. on Thursday when police went to Rosemary Lane in Kingston.

The Kingston Central police report that when they entered the lane, a group of men were seen standing in the area. The men reportedly ran when the police approached them. The police said a .38 revolver with four rounds was found on the scene. No one was arrested.
