Accused thief's bail extended

TASHIEKA MAIR, STAR Writer

WESTERN BUREAU

A 19-YEAR-OLD store manager accused of stealing more than $116,000 from her employer, had her $200,000 bail extended with conditions, during her appearance in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Simple larceny accused Monique Campbell was told that she would have to report to the Granville Police Station on Tuesdays.

The case file is incomplete as investigations are still ongoing. She is to return to court on August 2.

Allegations are that in May the complainant, Campbell's employer at Today's Beauty Supplies on Union Street in Montego Bay, observed that on certain days, no lodgements were made to the business' bank account.

The accused was responsible for tallying sales then lodging the money on a daily basis.

The owner also cited discrepancies in the account, as the record on the computerised system showed a different balance from that on the lodgement slips.
