The Kingston Eastern Police say rumours that Shanika Anderson's killer was a victim of mob justice are not true.

In recent months, there have been rumours that Anderson's killer was the victim of mob justice shortly after the incident occurred.

Anderson, six, was found dead on May 1, last year, one day after she was lured from the the Coronation Market by a man who promised to buy her patties. When she could not be found, the police were told. The girl was found one day later in an open lot behind Manley Meadows in East Kingston. She had bruises to the head, upper back and vagina. A bloody shirt and a used condom were also found on the scene.

The Kingston Eastern police division which is investigating the murder said there was no truth in the rumour as they have had no reports of mob killings. The police could not say how the rumours began but said the case was still unsolved.
