Selector Hotta Ball - RUDOLPH BROWN
SINCE SELECTOR 'HOTTA Ball' was beaten last month, he is still searching for his attackers.
Hotta Ball, whose correct name is Shaun Lennon, says he was playing at a party last month when he was beaten for "dissing the dads," Bounty Killer.
Hotta Ball explained that at the beginning of his set, he played an introduction by selector Tony Matterhorn. "It say, 'Unnuh wha gang up and plan up? Bout bullet bullet? Unnuh mumma!' That's kind a the anthem on the sound and is a counteraction to the jingle 'Bullet! Bullet!', so maybe them feel offended."
He says after he played, he went for his pay and he was accosted by a group of men.
"All of a sudden me just see thump a fly, and a man a say 'Yuh bo--o hole yuh ... How yuh fi dis the dads, Bounty Killer?' Then more man start come round with weapon and a threaten fi stab me. Then one man rush in with a big metal pipe and him friend dem run, so a innah dat now, me get fi run way," he said.
Hotta Ball says he then ran back to the selector's booth and while there, he realised that he was bleeding. "So me stand up beside the next sound wha when deh select and me feel me head and say, 'Ah wha dis?' Until now, none of the man dem nuh look pon me."
CAR CHASE
He says he decided to leave the event, and even then more men came. "When me see that, me start run to the car, and a girl wha come wid we get lock out, and she haffi run round the next side."
Hotta Ball says even after they left, they were chased by the men in cars. He says they managed to escape by changing their route. 'Hotta Ball' says he has since reported the matter to the police.
He says he has not forgotten about the incident and has no intention of doing so. "And me coulddah just lose me life, just so? I don't play for nobody, I play for everybody.'
Hotta Ball says this because he has been linked to DJ Beenie Man. "Yes I am Beenie Man's selector, but that don't mean that I only play Beenie Man songs. If the crowd want to hear a Bounty Killer, I play that as well. Nuh true me a him selector, him a go tell me wha fi play and what not to play. Me play fi di people dem and me tell dem dat already."
