JORI HESLOP OF Central Village, St. Catherine, is a sad person after thieves made off with two of his cows valued at $75,000.
According to Mr. Heslop, he tied his cattle near Astrom Construction in Central Village on Sunday about 5 a.m. The following day, he went to look for his animals and was surprised to see the young calf cut from its mother's womb dead, and the cows missing with their skin and intestines dumped.
"Bwoy, mi doan know a who tief di cow dem, but one have calf Friday and di odda one was pregnant."
THE STAR checked the St. Catherine Health Department and was told that the incident spoke to a very dangerous practice. "People must be sure that the meat that they are purchasing is passed by the Health Department with a certified stamp," said Samuel Cameron, chief public health inspector for St. Catherine.
The Central Village Police acknowledge that the matter has been reported to them and is being investigated.
