A special bond between the Edwards siblings

Nicole and Nicola Edwards. - ANTHONY MINOTT

NICOLA EDWARDS-FALCHER has been married since December 2005, but that has not interfered with the bond she shares with her twin sister Nicole Edwards.

Nicole and Nicola were born to parents Norma Baker and Donovan Edwards on November 20, 1984. Nicola was the first to be born while Nicole came two minutes later.

The elder twin still comes around the house and assists with what can be done and participates in family moments when she is not busy at home.

However, the twin's mom Miss Baker knew that one day little Nicola would turn into an adult, look for a husband and move out, but she still misses her around the house.

"I miss her being at home, she's the chef, she's always seeing that everything is in order. When I am out I don't need to worry because I know that Nicola will take care of everything," Miss Baker said.

She said Nicola is the more outspoken of the two and takes care of her brother and sister.

On the other hand, Nicole is the quiet type, however, when it comes to her siblings going to school she gets really tough as she threatens her brother and sister to study or else a sound beating will follow. "Nicole is always sleeping and always on the phone", a smiling Miss Baker added.

What the two has in common is that they both love cooking, an art they inherited from their father.

Nicola's favourite food is stew peas with pork and she also loves pudding, while Nicole who hardly spoke during the interview said that she loves steam fish with okra and crackers.

The twin sisters grew up in Greendale, Kingston and attended the same basic and primary schools. Both passed their Common Entrance Exams (now GSAT) to Meadowbrook High School.

Nicole is currently going to UTECH while Nicola hopes to enroll at the UWI to pursue a career in nursing.

They presently attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where they were baptised at 16. "The reason that I baptised so early is that I believe that's the only way you can be saved," Nicola said. She added her greatest accomplishment thus far is getting married to someone she loves. "I have always wanted to be married."
