DEAR PASTOR,
I know you can help me in some way or another. I have that faith. I am a single mother who is HIV positive. I have four children ages 10-17. My youngest child is also HIV positive. My children's father went to Canada on farm work and ran off. He got married up there and became ill. That was when I found out my status. He is now dead.
I always work to support myself and my children. I worked at a popular supermarket as a customer attendant and cashier. I always got awards for staff of the year. When my boss found out my status, she called me and told me she got to understand that I am positive so I should stop from working immediately because she will lose customers. That was when my problems started.
I can't afford to send my children to school as they wish. My biggest son who is doing well in school hardly goes to school and he is in fourth form. I find it difficult to send them to school and to find food and medication for myself and my daughter. I get a little sometimes which I am thankful for because we need to give thanks for small things but I need more help for my children. I am willing to work but my skin is spotted so no one wishes to employ me. I am still in good health (thank God for that).
Pastor, I don't know how you can help me, but I am looking for your reply. Please pray for me to have more patience. I am fed up. I don't want to do what I should not do because I want to see my children pass the worst.
J.D, St. James, Jamaica
Dear J.D,
I suggest that you call the Ministry of Health and tell them about your situation and ask for help. They will tell you where to go and what to do. I am very sorry to hear that you are struggling and that your child and you are infected with the HIV virus. I assure you of my prayers.
Pastor
