No 'buss' for 'Heaven Sented'

Bounty Killer - IAN ALLEN

TODAY THE STAR continues one of its latest features, a weekly review of new songs. Three musical minds with different tastes will analyse each song and will grade it on vocal ability, lyrics, musical arrangement and appeal. Songs that make the grade will be given our stamp of approval, "Mus Buss". For those songs that fail, well, they will be dumped under the "Caan Buss" heading.

The three reviewers welcome feedback from the artistes and the public about the column. Send your comments to bussdem@hotmail .com, or if you are an artiste wishing to have your song reviewed, send the CD to:

This week the Mus Buss/Caan Buss team reviews Bounty Killer's Heaven Sented on the "Zulu" rhythm. The song is about Bounty's sexual prowess. He says girls think he is sent from heaven and his skills are next to none.

Queen: Bwoy mi nuh like how him voice sound pon dah tune yah. It soun' too high over the rhythm.

xXx: Mi nuh like dah song yah ah tall. The riddim and how him a ride it just nuh mesh.

TAE: Yuh see how dah riddim yah start, di Zulu riddim wid di African tribal sound, it set di pace for what is to come.

Queen: What ? war?

TAE: Basically yeah. Cause even though di Killa tune name Heaven Sented it sound like di warlord a try fi mek wi know seh, he has won many a battle in the bedroom.

Queen: Yeah because him sing bout it 'heaven sented', and long and lengthened. Obviously him a seh fi him ting is the best.

xXx: Frankly I don't know which one is worse the song or the riddim. I mean di whole African sound, tribal call at the beginning is just not working for me at all. This is not what I want to hear when I'm stressed out and in the middle of it, yuh hear di tribal call in a di middle a man deejaying, It's just retarded. who mek dah riddim yah?

TAE: Well one ting you can give Killa props fah, him flow pan di riddim, mi nuh know how him do it. But neither song nor riddim has captured my undivided attention. Him a sing bout making love and morrow, mi nuh know how di morrow tie in.

Queen: I agree. I don't like the song or the riddim. Killa mi did expect betta. You know dis is not up to your standard at all.

xXx: Mi nuh know weh TAE a talk bout give Killa props pan di ting, because mi nuh see weh him fi get props for, him coulddah just decline and seh dis a just one riddim him will pass on.

TAE: For me di introduction a di best part of the song, weh Killa a talk.

xXx: Yeah di part without the riddim, A capella.

Queen: Bwoy nuh part of it nuh sound good to me, but yuh know seh him have some dedicated fans who will buy it even if dem hate it. Not to mention those who will play it even if it nah seh nutten. Unfortunately for these reason, I will have to say it "Mus Buss"., because di people dem a go buy it.

TAE: Mi wouldda haffi mad, sick an mi head nuh good fi tink seh, dah tune yah nah buss.

xXx: Unnuh nuh rightid or something? Listen to me, this song is crap. One hundred per cent undiluted crap. Di riddim is crap. If I hear dis on radio, seriously mi haffi go start one protest or sometin cause dis nuh right. Because any how dis buss, mi ah go get mi pot and beat plus scream pon top of it and recruit some people for the riddim. It 'Caan Buss' - argument done. And dem better not think of pulling a stunt like that next weirdo did pull a come pon TV and seh him have talent! Crap!
