AS YOU LISTEN to the sound of Zahair who rightfully starts this CD with his song entitled January Morning, one immediately gets the feeling that this latest rhythm 'January Morning', produced by Free Willy Records is like a fresh injection to the music, a new beginning.
The rhythm is soft on the ears and offers a mood of positive meditation on a number of issues addressed by various artistes.
Luthan Fyah expresses on track two that there's no love like A Mother's Love, as society sometimes fails to acknowledge the struggles that mothers have had to endure for their children to make it.
D'Angel represents for the females in her song, Woman Power, as she demands that it is full time that women are taken seriously. She sings, 'give di woman a chance every ting that wi try man a seh dat wi can't, but highlighted examples where Jamaican athletes and recently the election of a female Prime Minister has been proving otherwise.
Warrior King continues the plea for peace and love as he holds a firm meditation in a Place of Peace. He asks, "where can I find a place where there's no bloodshed, where there is no one dead"?
Gyptian is in agreement, as his Crying suggests that 'now the poor and rich a feel it hard now they take the crime to the dancehall,' and pleads for the youths who are the future.
Tanya Stephens changes the focus to a different problem that society also faces, that of man and woman relationships. In her song, she expresses her frustration with her man who spends more time on the corner chilling with his crew rather than with his boo. Her poetic style of delivery, as usual gives a good listen while inviting some humour as well.
Tony Curtis also took a swipe at the same topic, as he claims to know what women want. He says, she wants the real Macoy, "she seh she want a man, nuh need no baby boy, to give her sweat loving an mek she full joy."
Kananga's Not So Easy, Elite Souljaz'sHeart Cry and One and Only by Frankie Paul, all continue in similar mode, delving further into the topic of love and relationships.
The CD is closed with the sound of Perfect and Natural Black, giving thanks for being black despite the discriminations that Black Warriors have to endure.
January Morning is another wonderful project from Free Willy Studios, one that is timely and will offer listeners not only an enjoyable listen but will also pass on a few positive thoughts to be reflected upon.
