Two face manslaughter charges

RALSTON HUNT WILL appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today to answer to manslaughter charges arising from an accident on Spanish Town Road on May 22.

Allegations are that on the day of the accident, three trailers were racing along the Spanish Town Road when one of them got out of control and slammed into a packed passenger bus which was heading to Montego Bay.

Khamaal Fields, of a Spanish Town address, was also charged with manslaughter and was given $300,000 bail when he first appeared in court on Friday. He is charged alongside Hunt with four counts of manslaughter following the accident which left four persons dead and 27 injured.

Hunt was charged after it is alleged that he was driving the trailer. However, investigators say Mr. Fields was charged because he was assigned to drive the trailer and there is uncertainty as to who was driving when it crashed. Hunt is also on $300,000 bail.

Both men are scheduled to return to court on June 12.
