WHENEVER KEMMAR BROWN remembers how her daughter Oksana Douglas died she cries.

Her daughter, Oksana, seven, was murdered on December 22, last year, after men travelling in a white car opened fire on a group of people who were on Tower Avenue in Olympic Gardens, St. Andrew.

Police report that on the day in question, the child and other persons were standing on Tower Avenue when a Toyota Corolla drove up and fired at the a group of persons. During the shooting, Oksana was shot and killed. The men escaped.

"Mi sen' her go a wan party an' when mi out pon Olympic Way, mi get a call seh she get shot," said Brown.

YOUNGEST CHILD

Brown said she was later told that the men travelling in the car had seen a man with whom they were involved in a feud. She said the men fired at the other man who ran. It was at that time that Oksana was hit. The child, along with five others, was shot during the gunfire. But, only Oksana died.

"Up to yesterday mi tek up her picture an' a look pon it an' a cry. She was the youngest child and I loved her a lot," Brown said.

Brown said what she loved about her daughter was her energy. Brown said Oksana was a child who loved to work and was playful.

"She was a nice girl. When she was aroun' she mek mi laugh. Mi jus miss har," said Brown.

Brown said she is trying to cope for the sake of her other child but she still feels the pain whenever she remembers her daughter. Brown said it is a memory she will hold on to forever especially since she had decided not to have another baby for now.

"It jus' sad because she was the youngest an' although mi did want more, mi never want nuh more fi now, but mi a go always remember har no matter what," she said.
