Sameer Younis' eclectic musical taste

SAMEER YOUNIS, BUSINESSMAN and chairman of the Inner -city Development Committee, is a lover of all kinds of music. He told THE STAR, however, that he mostly listens to country music, Bob Marley and oldies from the '50s and '60s. Narrowing his favourites to only five, was therefore a challenge, but he managed to list these five:

1. Frank Sinatra - My Way - "All of Jamaica knows this is my favourite song. I think it's the national anthem of all songs. I haven't found anyone who has listened to it, that doesn't like it. It talks about doing what you want to do, how you want to do it."

2. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor - "I like this song because it is something that speaks about strength and survival and overcoming everything that comes your way."

3. You Needed Me - Anne Murray - "I like this song because it talks about friendship, love and devotion."

4. The Gambler - Kenny Rogers - "The song is talking about gambling, and life's a gamble. Everything in life is about gambling. It's all about being in the right place at the right time and doing things at the right time."

5. Redemption Song - Bob Marley - "I like the part that says 'Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery'. It's about knowing the importance of who you are and the power of the mind. We should set goals and try to be the best in the world. It's a message for everyone."
