A 21 YEAR-old man, who is facing gun and fraud charges after he was accused of pointing a gun at an attendant at a service station in St. Elizabeth, is booked to appear in the next sitting of the St. Elizabeth Circuit Court on June 19.
Elvis Tolluch, of Montego Hill, Montego Bay, St. James, was remanded in custody after the case against him was committed to circuit in the Santa Cruz RM court on Monday. Circuit begins on June 19.
It is alleged that on April 5, this year, Tolluch, who is charged with illegal possession of firearm, assault at common law and obtaining credit by fraud, was travelling in a Green Mitsubishi Gallant motorcar with another man when they stopped at Lyns Texaco Service Station in Tombstone, Lacovia district, St. Elizaberth.
It is further alleged that the accused, who was the driver of the car, ordered more than $2000 worth of petrol and, upon being served, a gun was pulled and pointed at the pump attendant. He then sped off without paying.
The operators of the service station immediately informed the nearby Lacovia police who went in pursuit of the car.
About half an hour later, the car was seen at Eldersley district near the St. James border. One of the men fired shots at the police and sped away. The police gave chase and at about 10 a.m., the police saw the car parked in a track off the main road with the two men changing the licence plate.
On the approach of the police, the men ran and were chased. The accused was held but the other man escaped.
