THE MAN ACCUSED of killing his cellmate after he ripped some pages from his Bible received the legal aid he requested.
Michael Laoe was represented by his lawyer Donna McIntosh Brice-Gayle in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The clerk of the court told the RM that the post mortem is not ready so the case is set to be mentioned on June 22.
Laoe is accused of murdering his cellmate Okeene Hassad after he allegedly tore some pages from his Bible and smoked them. The two men got into an altercation and Hassad pulled a sharp instrument from his waist and move towards Laoe. He in turn pushed him and Hassad fell and hit his head against a concrete bunk. He was later taken to the University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Laoe was initially incarcerated for conspiring with someone else to douse his wife with acid which resulted in her death. That case has not yet been completed.
