On October 5, last year, 10-year-old Sasha-Kay Brown, and three other members of her family were burnt to death. Her 50-year-old grandfather, his wife Dacas, 60, along with her aunt, 25-year-old Michelle Brown were killed in a blaze started by gunmen, who padlocked the grille on the house before starting the fire with Molotov cocktail bombs.

FIRE BOMBED HOUSE

Reports from the police are that at around 3 a.m., heavily-armed gunmen invaded the Barnes Avenue area off Maxfield Avenue in Kingston and fire bombed the premises. When the occupants tried to escape, the men are said to have fired several shots at the house.

While the house was being engulfed in flames, the attempts by residents to save the family was prevented by the gunmen who also opened fire on them.

The police believe that the murder was a part of an ongoing gang feud in the area. They said it could be a reprisal killing for a man who was shot and injured in the same area, who was wanted by the police.

Since the incident, the police have identified suspects in relation to this heinous crime, but to date none have been caught.

"We have suspects for that murder but we are yet to apprehend anyone who is responsible," said Superintendent of Police Delroy Hewitt.

"We are working feverishly to solve it, as recently we went after one of the suspects but we failed to hold him," Superintendent Hewitt said.
