Policeman killed

A POLICEMAN WAS killed near his home in Thompson Town, Clarendon, Saturday night.

Constable Buele Oxford, 22, from the Rock River Police Station, was found by police early Sunday morning lying near his car, just a few metres from his home. He was shot in the chest and his firearm was missing.

Oxford's family became worried when he failed to return home after work. They heard gunshots the night before, but because this was nothing strange, they made no report.

Oxford is the fifth policeman to be killed since January. It is said that he had twice reported receiving threats on his life and to steal his firearm.

The police have not yet arrested anyone but are said to be following some leads.
