Wrongly accused

DEAR PASTOR,

I am a 22-year-old young man who was charged earlier in the year for fraud. I used to work at a leading financial institute in Jamaica as a leading teller with good customer service skills. I was charged in February with someone else who the institute was watching for the past year. The institute knew that I didn't know that this person was involving me in his crime. He was my team leader. I took instructions from this person being that he was a leader and was working there long before me. According to the manager of the institute, if it were left up to him, I would just lose my job and would not be charged. I spent three weeks in jail before I got bail and since then, they fired me.

Every time I attend court, the investigators tell the judge they will be ready by the next date and it's never so. They searched my house to find money, to see if I have anything I can't afford or should not be able to buy with my salary for the two years I've been there. They came up empty handed. The investigator said he believes in my innocence, yet, I am still at court while my life is on pause.

I tried to get another job but everywhere I go for an interview they do not call me. I guess this is because I am still at court and the bigger heads at my last job fail to see what all my co-workers and the investigators see. Every day I read books to further educate myself and try to learn something on the computer. I try my best to stay out of trouble. I have a daughter on the way. She is due soon and I have no money. They froze my account and the little money in there has been accounted for.

Pastor, I want to be there for my daughter and provide a good life for her. According to my lawyer, the case could run for another year because they don't seem to have enough evidence. I really need a job and would like to get your advice on how to get one. I don't want to get involved in any bad company. Police officers at the station that I report to, even recommend that I get a job. They commend me for always reporting to the station and keeping the faith.

Please pray for me and recommend what I should do or what I can do. Thanks for reading my letter and replying.

E.T., Clarendon, Jamaica

Dear E. T.,

I suggest that you commit this matter to the Lord if you haven't done so as yet. This matter may take a while before it is settled. I suppose if you are not guilty, you may get back your job at the financial institution and they may have to pay you for the months you were not allowed to work. I am not sure, but I would think so.

I am not surprised that you are unable to find a job. Jobs are difficult to get and in your situation, no one will trust you. Your relatives should come to your rescue by assisting you. If you are a member of a church, the church can come to your aid. Some church people are very helpful, even when they believe that a brother or sister is guilty of a crime. Mark you, I am not saying that you are guilty of any crime.
