A SERIES OF answered prayers, a loving family and knowing that her saviour would always be near, providing comfort in times of depression, were the reasons behind Nicoda Anderson's decision to get baptised.
The 16-year-old was baptised on Sunday, February 19, in the precious name of Jesus Christ, at the Newland Evangelistic Association Church located on Newland Road in Portmore, St. Catherine. The ceremony was presided over by Bishop Elijah Thomas, head clergyman of the host church.
The shy teen said during her testimony between tears that "God has blessed me and kept me, and has given me a wonderful family and tonight I accept him as my personal saviour."
She told THE STAR that the Lord had truly blessed her with a caring family and had died on the cross to wash away her sins. "He (Jesus) died on the cross for me. So, I'm willing to give my life to him and let him have his way with me."
Nicoda says there are a lot of people who have both disappointed and discouraged her in life and she was happy that she could rely on God.
NEW CONVERT
"God proved himself to me. While I was at school, the teacher gave us an SBA assignment which I said I was not going to do because I felt I couldn't make the deadline, (although) I didn't want to waste my parents' money."
"I held down my head and prayed and asked God to soften her (my teacher's) heart and give us until the Wednesday to give in the SBA. Later, she told the class that she was going to give us until Wednesday to give in the assignment," a bubbling Nicoda said. The new convert added that when she heard the teacher's statement she couldn't believe her ears.
She stresses that no matter what troubles and trials one might have in life, he or she was free to bring them to the foot of the cross.
Nicoda now attends Bible class and is still singing the praises of Almighty God.
