'That's D'Angel, hail up Moses, seh wi rock suh an wi dip suh.'

Those words coming from the song of a fellow deejay, may appropriately describe the protocol that was followed by everyone who shared in D'Angel's birthday celebrations held Friday night at the Weekenz Bar and Bistro on Constant Spring Road.

Family, friends, and well-wishers turned out in their numbers, many adhering to the stipulated formal dress code, as they 'blessed' up D'Angel at her belated birthday celebrations (her birthday was April 1), while showing their love for Moses and joining with the two to party the night away.

This birthday party was like no other, as a matter of fact, in the words of Beenie Man, "Da party yah a guh different," and indeed it was.

Mr. Davis went all out to please the love of his life. The entrance leading into Weekenz was laid with a red carpet and lined with numerous balloons, forming a beautiful peach and silver frame.

Upon entering the inside, another strip of red carpet led to the VIP area, where the birthday girl, D'Angel and fiancé Beenie Man were busy posing for the many cameras.

IN THE NAME OF LOVE

Beenie Man, clad in a full white suit, danced with his 'birthday Angel' to the sound of R. Kelly's Step In The Name Of Love.

D'Angel, who glowed all night, was beautifully clad in a long custom made, multi-fabric gold, satin and lace dress adorned with pearls. The dress featured a long split that runs down the centre, exposing her thighs.

MC Nuffy, who had the duty of keeping the romantic vibe flowing, had selectors play soulful songs, like Mario's Let Me Love You.

'The Doctor', armed with his large bottle of Hennessey, frequently approached the stage and claimed the microphone. On one occasion he reassured D'Angel and those present at the party that, "Mi jus call di whole a mi girl dem an seh mi married." One, however, couldn't deny the fact that both 'The Doctor' and D'Angel appeared to be in a very happy mood.

As selectors pumped up the vibe a notch, songs like T-Pain's I'm Sprung, Name And Number by Turbulence and We've Got The Love by another dancehall couple, Sasha and Turbulence, had everyone at D'Angel's birthday party in lover's mood.

Coppershot, Code Red, Junior Bashment and others ensured that love reigned all night, as they played songs from the '70s and '80s. What's Love Got To Do With It and Lady In Red were among the crowd favourites.

At 2 a.m., host for the evening, Beekie Bailey invited D'Angel's mother to come on stage and bless the cake, and of course, Beenie Man also had to add his touch. He asked everyone to place their hands over their heart, asking for "long life and prosperity" for D'Angel.

One, three, five! The cake was cut and it was now 'sharing time'. Beenie and D'Angel fed each other cake from their mouths, giving those present, a hint of what the impending nuptials may be like.

NO MORE 'OLE DOG'

In Beenie's toast to D'Angel, he declared that, "Every man a dog till him start walk pon di right path. I was one of those type, but been there done that."

The two then slow danced to the sound of Eric Bennett and Tamia's Spend My Life before doing some one-two steps to R. Kelly's Step In The Name Of Love.

D'Angel wasn't the only one that received 'big ups' on Friday night, as Beekie Bailey also congratulated Beenie on D'Angel's pregnancy.

"Congratulations mi fren, at least mi know seh yuh nuh have gravel balls," Bailey said.

Beenie later continued his ongoing tribute to D'Angel, singing, "Woman I love you, like no other that I've ever had." He could hardly finish, though, as the noise from the audience was overwhelming. D'Angel was seen wiping his eyes, tears, one would assume, due to the overwhelming emotion they shared.

D'Angel was then offered another tribute when the Rough Cut Band took the stage an did a number of soulful renditions.

D'Angel and Beenie Man later retreated to the back of the venue where they hugged, laughed and socialised by the bar with family and friends as the party continued into the early hours of the morning.
