KC whip St Jago

Kingston College at TVJ for Schools' Challenge Quiz on March 7. - JUNIOR DOWIE

THE BOYS FROM North Street's Kingston College whipped the Spanish Town based St Jago High when they met in the third round of TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz match.

Kingston College defeated St. Jago 51- 19 in a game that started out quite competitive but ended as a one-sided affair.

Frank Weise, a coach of the St. Jago team, said they are not disappointed since winning the competition this year was not a part of their plan.

"We have achieved our objective of reaching the third round. We will continue our programme as we prepare for next year," he told THE STAR.

At the end of the first section, KC was on 13 points while St. Jago was on nine points. However, Jago missed an opportunity to strengthen their points standing when they incorrectly identified Delly Ranks as Frisco Kid in an audio visual question.

Section two of the match saw the focused KC team applying more pressure. In this section KC missed few questions and that was evident as in minutes one and two they gained five points each and in minute three they gained seven points ending the section on 29 points.

St. Jago tried, but did not gain as many points as KC. In minutes one and two they got three points each and only two points in minute three. They ended the section on 17 points.

However, it seemed that in section three of the match St. Jago began to shut down. They only attempted to answer three questions in the final seconds, two of which they got correct.

KC seized the opportunity and widened their lead. They attempted 13 questions, 12 of which they got correct. When the section ended, KC had a clear and decisive victory.

Dusean Harriott, captain of the KC team indicated said it was a good match and they were proud of their performance. "It was a very excellent match, my teammates played excellent," he said.

The KC coach came in for high praise. "It was our coach and the advice that he gave us over the past few weeks. We realise that we have not been playing up to par in the last few matches and that pushed us to come and do better," Rohan Lawrence said.

Harriott said the team will be remaining focused and working harder as they prepare for the next round.

Members of the KC team are Peter-John Plummer, Rohan Lawrence, Andre Williams, Dusean Harriott (captain).

Members of the St. Jago team are Greig Drummond, Seiyefa Sonron, Shaneka Wallace and Jermaine Lewis (captain).

Tomorrow: St. Andrew's Ardenne High versus St. Mary's St. Mary High.
