Sex, sex and more sex!

YES, AH KETCH yu! I know that headline would get your attention. Sex is great, isn't it? Especially if you do it with somebody else! And even if you don't physically engage in the act, sex is an extremely engaging topic. It is without doubt the most exciting, fulfilling, inspiring thing I have everÉ.imagined. Yes I imagine sex a lot. That shouldn't surprise anybody, I am a man, and men are supposed to be very into sex. Frankly though, just between me and you, (please don't tell anybody I said so); but I genuinely believe that sex is highly over-rated. Fi real! So why so many people literally buy sex on a daily basis? I don't know, ask them!

Every single night hundreds of Jamaican men can be found sitting in clubs that offer "exotic dancing" and they are not there because they appreciate dancing. Check the number of ads in the papers for massage services. You think the people who buy those services really want any massage? You think the happy couples who visit the numerous establishments offering air-conditioned rooms on Portmore's famous "back road" go there to play scrabble?

And the women who stand on the sidewalk in certain parts of New Kingston at night posing half naked and waving at passing men; what do you think they're selling, counselling and consultancy services? Personally, I find most of them look so downright unattractive that even if they were offering free samples I wouldn't take any. Only God alone knows why men would want to pay to have sex with some of them. What is clear to me though, is that sex sells; and fools buy. Yes, most of the buyers are men.

I have heard of a theory (postulated by men of course) that attempts to explain why we are weaker than women when it comes to resisting the sex urge. Here goes: It is a fact that erection occurs when blood rushes to fill up the spongy tissues that changes a penis from soft and feeble to rock-hard and angry. So maybe, once a man has an erection the blood supply to his brain is decreased and his intelligence is temporarily diminished. In other words, hard penis equals soft brain. Mmmn I wonder?

But what do you think? Are men really more interested in sex than women? And do men enjoy sex more than women? Barbadian comedian/calypsonian Macfingal suggests that women definitely enjoy sex more than men. His view is based on the idea that when your ears itch and you stick your finger in your ear, it is the ear that feels good and not the finger. Of course, most women might probably disagree. In fact, a lot of women love to behave as if they have no interest in sex and only indulge in the activity to facilitate us men. Yeah, right! And I guess women only buy dildos and vibrators to support the economy.

One reader emailed me to ask how come I talk so much about sex, both in my stand-up comedy performances and in my STAR column. I told her my sex life is 45% talk and 50% thought. She offered her sympathy for whoever gets to share the remaining 5%.

Seriously though, even if I had no message in my story, or no real point to an article, once there is sex in it, it is guaranteed to get attention. See, you are actually reading this article right down to the very end.
