MICHAEL BROWN MUST have felt a bit lucky after he received a suspended sentence when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Brown, a carpenter of a Corporate Area address was sentenced to six months' hard labour suspended for one year after he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm. In addition, he was ordered to pay $9,000 to the complainant Jacqueline Brown to cover her medical expenses.
CERTAIN DEMANDS
Allegations are that Brown and the complainant were involved in a relationship which ended. It is reported that the complainant got pregnant for another man but Brown made certain demands. When the complainant refused he reportedly boxed and kicked her causing her to seek medical attention.
But, when the matter came before RM Gayle, Brown denied kicking the complainant. Instead, he said he only shoved her when she denied his request.
RM Gayle warned him not to touch women and handed down the sentence as the complainant requested her medical bill.
