Man shot dead in Spanish Town

SPANISH TOWN

ONE MAN WAS shot dead and three others injured as the weekend of killing which erupted in Spanish Town, St. Catherine continued yesterday.

The St. Catherine North police has recorded its 29th murder since the start of the year, while three other persons have been hospitalised nursing gunshot wounds.

Dead is Oray Murray, 21, of Time Walk, Bog Walk, St. Catherine.

According to Detective Sergeant Paul Thomas of Spanish Town CIB Murray and other persons were standing near a cookshop in Frazer Content about noon. They were approached by a group of men who opened fire hitting him and three other men.

In the aftermath, Murray was found dead with wounds to the head and upper body, while the other men were admitted to hospital.

At least five persons were shot dead and four injured in Spanish Town between Friday and Saturday night. Three of the men were killed in a triple murder in the St. Johns Road area.

Last year there were 223 murders in the St. Catherine North division, nine less than 232 recorded in 2004.
