Schmidt picks 5

Brian Schmidt - RICARDO MAKYN

BRIAN SCHMIDT, Marketing manager of IRIE FM and ZIP 103 FM, is a busy man, but a lover of all kinds of music. George Michael is probably his favourite artiste but you can also find selections from Sade and Sting in his music collection. He enjoys ballads but not 'soppy ones', reggae, soft rock, R&B, dancehall and party music. Choosing five favourite tunes was a difficult task but he finally settled on the following which he gave in no particular order:

Can't Take It (Tears On My Pillow) Ernie Smith "I grew up with this song but it's kind of melancholic. It's about a man who has this very deep love."

How Deep Is Your Love Bee Gees "This tune is like the love tune of all love tunes. It's all about you being passionate and in love with this person."

Love Don't Live Here Anymore Madonna "There is something very haunting about how Madonna sings it. When I hear it, it stays in my mind for hours."

Destiny Lenny Kravitz "It's basically saying nobody can tell me how I must be. It's about independence and being you."

Older George Michael "It's a song about acceptance. Again, it's a song about defiance in that I'm getting older, I'm getting wiser and that's okay."
