CHESTER, WEST VIRGINIA (CMC)
JAMAICAN JOCKEY AN-DREW Ramgeet scored two wins on Tuesday evening as Mountaineer Park began a new week of racing.
Ramgeet had won the fourth race with the 34-1 outsider Throwatizzylizzy with a crafty ride.
He shot into a huge lead down the backstretch in the 5-1/2 furlong sprint and kept the tiring six-year-old mare in front by 1/2-length for the upset victory.
In the US$27,800 seventh race, the richest on the nine-race card, Ramgeet produced another upset win when he took the five-year-old mare Money Never Sleeps to a 2-1/2 length victory in the mile and 70-yard run.
It was another front-running effort by the three-time Jamaica champion jockey and he scored at odds of 16-1 for his 13th win of the season. He lies eighth in the jockeys' standings.
