'Doing' the right thing
DEAR PASTOR,
I'm a young lady who moved to the States in February and so far my life has been hell. I want to go back to Jamaica so bad, but my mother asks me who is going to take care of me in Jamaica since all my family members are here. I had a boyfriend when I was in Jamaica. I love that boy so much. I gave him everything I ever had, but when I left, things changed a lot. He told me he has a girlfriend. I tried not to care, but he could tell I was hurt. We started our relationship since I was 10. I did everything he wanted me to do, but I was just a fool. I kissed his friend once but it was just a mistake. We were both in need of someone. He told my boyfriend that we had sex, but as I said it was just a kiss. I'm the kind of girl that boys would say they are "doing" just to say I was with them. Please help me. T. M., Florida, USA Dear T. M., You didn't give your age, but I am presuming that you are still in your teens. Therefore, I am going to beg you to try and settle down in the United States of America. I know you are very young and still under parental care. So, please listen to your parents. Follow their advice and study hard. Give yourself time to grow up. Boys will always be around, they are not running away. This young man, who was your boyfriend while you were in Jamaica, told you that he has a new girlfriend now. Don't put your heart on him. If he calls you, be nice to him, but don't waste your time thinking about him all the time. Love you and God bless you. Pastor
