Fire leaves four homeless

SPANISH TOWN

FIRE OF UNKNOWN origin destroyed a two-apartment board house along the Spanish Town bypass yesterday, leaving five persons, including four children, homeless.

Reports are about 8:30 a.m. residents of McKoy Lane saw fire coming from a house occupied by Pinklin Blake and her four children ages two-10 years.

"Bwoy, mi jus tan up right ere so dis mawning and mi see di fire start blaze an mi an mi brethren dem start get wata ina bucket but wi couldn't manage it cause a boardhouse, so we call de fire brigade and it tek ova one hour fi cum," remarked Markland Thompson, a resident of the area.

Blake cried as she told THE STAR what she believed happen.

POSSIBLE ARSON

"A mus sumadie set it a fire, it da de ow long and neva blaze up so a light dem light it and a don't know wat a going to do now wid mi and mi four pickney dem but God will mek a way," said Blake, adding that she was elsewhere when she got the sad news that she had lost everything in the blaze and did not know where to turn for help. Councillor Theresa Turner was on the scene and said she will be seeking audience with Member of Parliament Olivia 'Babsy' Grange and also the Poor Relief Department to get help for Blake.
