JAMAICA'S SENIOR AND junior women's teams finished third at last weekend's North America, Central America, and Caribbean Cross County Championships in Florida.
The senior women's 6K team, 14th placed Tamica Thomas (23:57.22), Mericia James, (25:03.65), 17th, Nadine Henry (26:09.59), 22nd, and Tanice Barnett (26:18.30), 23rd, combined for 1:41:28.76 seconds to finish behind United States (1:28:31.51) and Canada (1:33:05.30).
In the junior women's 4K, Stacey Bell (15:04.82) was the only Jamaican to finish in the top 10 at sixth place. Judith Powell (15:40.58) was 14th, Rosemarie Aldrige (16:11.87) in 16th place and Cassanova Verona (17:31.86) who ended 25th, combined for an overall time of 1:04:29.13 behind United States (14:54.56) and Canada (59:47.65).
The men's 6K team finished fourth with a combined time of 1:27:26.72 behind United States (1:19:33.02) and Canada (1:21:23.11).
Kirs Brown (20:46.78) finished in 11th position, Marshall Williams (21:55.94) was 18th, Ageyna Robinson (22:00.00) was 19th and Kemoy Campbell (22:44.00) ended 25th.
Diego Alberto Borrego of Mexico won the event in 19:24.19 ahead of his teammate Aaron Hermes Arias (19:29.05).
In the men's 8K, Michael Tomlin (27:49.79) finished 20th, Wainard Talbert (28:12.90) was 23rd, Phillip Edwards (28:24.30) was 26th, Shawn Pitter (28:30.72) 27th, Kevin Campbell (28:53.32) 29th and Hurley Stewart (29:05.50) was 31st for a combined time of 1:52:57.71, which gave them sixth place behind winners Mexico (1:42:59.79) and United States (1:45:22.00).
