Mr. Vegas. - FILE
THE SCAR ON Mr. Vegas' face is a constant reminder of his valiant efforts in standing up for a friend.
Vegas says he got the scar while he was a student at the Allman Hill Primary and Junior High School in Parks Road, Above Rocks, St. Andrew.
While on his way to the bathroom after being excused from a class, Vegas saw his friend being provoked and went to his aid. He told the bully to leave his friend alone and as he turned to leave, the bully struck.
"Me only feel like something wipe cross mi face and me hear dem a seh 'yow, you get cut', an when mi look ah pere blood. It neva get nuh stitches nor nutten, it just heal on it's own so that's why it look so now," said Mr. Vegas.
With time the wound healed, but the level of violence in schools remains. Now he bears the mark of such violence and has taken a decision to talk out against the murder and rape of children.
Mr. Vegas has no regrets about his friendly deed and is living with the mark of his actions.
