SUNSHINE CITY TEAMS Portmore Flames and Link-up All Stars hunt important wins in the KFC/ bmobile National Basketball League (NBL) competition tonight at the Stadium Courts.
Link-up All Stars, who are off to a moderate start having a losing 1-3 record, will take on Jamaica Defence Force at 6:00 p.m. A win will push Link-up to seven points and out of the bottom section of the league. They are currently on five points, and share the cellar position with Rainbow Storms from Montego Bay, St. James, who has lost all five games.
Link-up All Stars were defeated 89-71 in their last match against defending champions St George's Slayers, and will want to rebound immediately.
Portmore Flames, who has a 50 per cent win/lose season having a 2-2 record from four games, will match skills with Denham Town Wizards in the feature match at 8:00 p.m.
DIG DEEP
Flames has dug themselves out from the bottom of the table, after being blown away by last year's runner-up Tivoli All Stars 75-55 and champs St. George's Slayers as they staggered to a 0-2 start. They came back well chiselling out two close wins, one over Link-up All Stars in a double over-time thriller 84-82, and another against JDF 60-58.
In that game Adrian Coote top scored with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists, Dave McGowan contributed 13 points, five rebounds, while Jermaine Mascoe added 12 points, three rebounds, two steals and five assists.
