20-0 for Caymanas G'dns

BY ANTHONY MINOTT, PORTMORE STAR Writer

ANTHONY MINOTT-Westport FC's Andre Kepple (right) shrugs off a challenge from Passagefort FC's Kirk Garrick during a WIHCON sponsored Portmore Division Two Football League match at the Greater Portmore playing field on Sunday February 26, 2006. Passagefort FC won the match 1-0.

EIGHT GOALS BY Randy Benjamin propelled Greater Portmore to a 20-0 clobbering of nine-man Caymanas Gardens FC as the WICHON Portmore Division Two Football League continued at the Greater Portmore playfield last Sunday.

Selbourne Hickey and Damion Moyston scored hat-tricks, while Jermaine Bailey hit a double strike and Jeffrey Donald, Leon Deleon, Albert Elliot and Carlos Beckford got a goal each to complete the rout.

The assigned referee almost miscounted the total goals scored because of the regularity with which the ball was hitting the back of the Caymans Gardens' net.

Greater Portmore improved to 15 points from eight games as the club pushed to second place. On the other hand it was the seventh straight loss for Caymanas Gardens FC.

In the feature match at the same venue, Passagefort FC clipped Westport 1-0 courtesy of a 61st minute penalty strike by Florezel Walker. Passagefort jumped to 14 points from seven games and lie third in the tables.

Meanwhile, in what was a repeat of the Dr. Paul Robertson knock-out final, Daytona FC defeated Wanderers 2-0 on the Hellshire playing field to take sole leadership of the league tallying 16 points from seven games.

In another game Hellshire continued their uninspiring form as they were held 1-1 by Caymanas Gardens Site D and are in danger of not qualifying for the next round.
