Hysterical 'Grace' period...Woman fined $30,000 for assault

Woman fined $30,000 for assault

A 41-YEAR-OLD mother of five was fined $30,000 or spend three months in prison after pleading guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm when she appeared in court on Thursday.

Sandie Blake, otherwise called Grace, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after throwing hot water on her brother and causing serious injuries.

Reports are that on February 11, the complainant heard a ruckus outside and discovered that his door was being kicked down.

An argument then developed between the complainant and accused, during which the complainant was burnt with hot water. A report was made to the Allman Town Police Station and Blake was arrested and charged.

MENACE TO SOCIETY

The complainant, Bible in hand, told the court that Blake also used "a cutlass to chop me over my left eye." He further explained, "I'm very scared of her, Your Honour, she's been tormenting my life. She's a menace to society."

The accused, however told the court that she acted in self-defence and that her brother had been behaving strangely since his release from a United States prison. She also accused the complainant of molesting one of her children. She told the court that the argument developed because the complainant was rinsing his waste bucket in the area where she washes her dishes.

SHUN EVIL

RM Gayle asked of the complainant, "She's your sister?" To this he replied, "She's my mother's daughter sir, but she don't see me as her brother or she wouldn't do this evil act, I shun evil, Your Honour." When asked what he feels would be the appropriate course of action, he told the court, "I forgive her Your Honour and I love her but I believe punishment still stands. I came to seek justice, she had no right to throw hot water on me."

The accused became hysterical when the sentence was handed down, even though she was given three weeks with a surety to pay the fine.

Through tears she told the court, "My children can't live in peace because of him. Him strip 'imself naked in front of the children."
