Schools' Challenge Quiz recap

TVJ SCHOOLS' CHALLENGE Quiz has been an exciting competition filled with good, sad and surprising moments.

The first round was not too shocking as only one former champion - Munro College making an early exit. Another school Norman Manley which had been steadily improving also went home in Round One.

The other traditional power houses namely Calabar, Kingston College, Glenmuir and Manchester High advanced to Round Two.

The other losers so far have been Montego Bay High, Central High, Brown's Town High, Norman Manley, Merlene Ottey High, Gaynstead and Mannings School.

EARLY DEPARTURE

Others making an early departure from the competition includes: Tacius Golding High, Spaldings High, St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), Marymount High, Herbert Morrison and Oberlin High. Brimmervale High, Holmwood Technical High, Black River High, Iona High, Bishop Gibson High, Mount Alvernia High, Spanish Town High and Lacovia High also went home early.

The other losers were Queens High, Decarteret College, Rusea's High, Ocho Rios High and Meadowbrook High.

Winners in this round were Calabar, Magotty, St. Catherine High, McGrath, Immaculate Conception High, Claude McKay, Wolmer's Boys, St. George's College, Old Harbour High and, Camperdown.

Other victors were Hampton School , Belair High, Manchester High, Jamaica College and Charlemount. St. Andrew Technical High (STATHS), Dinthill Technical High, Clarendon College, Knox College, Melgrove High, Kingston College, Jose Marti High, Bridge Port High, Decarateret College, Rusea's High, Cornwall College, St. Mary High and St. Hugh's High also won.

UPSETS

Round two has been filled with upsets. Calabar High continued on its winning trend defeating Maggotty High. McGrath High surprised St. Catherine High.

Two team members of the Norman Manley Quiz team of last year faced off on opposing sides when Wolmer's Boys played St. George's College. Wolmer's emerged winners and have moved to the third round. Camperdown defeated seed team Old Harbour and Belair High defeated Hampton School while Manchester High continued winning by defeating Jamaica College.

It's difficult to tell who will win Schools' Challenge Quiz this year. Check out THE STAR next week when its crystal ball will bring you its predictions for the remainder of this season.
