THE BUFF BAY police on Friday apprehended four suspects in connection with a robbery that took place in Kingston a day earlier.
The suspects who allegedly robbed two persons of cash, cellular phones and a motor car were held during a sting operation.
According to Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) Liaison Officer for the parish, Mrs. Debbie Douglas-Ellis, the men allegedly held up and robbed a man and a female friend at gunpoint of more than $25,000, two mobile phones and a 2001 brown Honda CRV motor car - with licence plate number 5521 DY, along Payne Avenue in Kingston on February 16.
STING OPERATION
"The robbery was reported to the Half-Way Tree police", said Mrs. Ellis. "However, the Half -Way Tree police, acting on information, alerted us that the men might be heading to Portland, and an operation was set up by the Buff Bay police".
The four men were apprehended along Mullet Hall main road in Buff Bay at about 6:30 a.m., Friday, in the stolen motor vehicle and taken into custody at the Port Antonio station, where they are being held.
The police said the two mobile phones were recovered, but neither of the men had any substantial amount of money left from the sum which was allegedly stolen.
The men are scheduled to face an identification parade, later this week, after which they will be transferred to Kingston, if identified.
